This program prepares the student to teach instructors or students the skills and intricacies of low impact backcountry activity through a 1 day classroom and 3 day practical backpack trip. Travel involved is light to moderate since we spend most of our time in group discussions and skill practices. This will include experiential learning and discussion of LNT techniques teaching styles and wildland ethics. Each student will receive 24 teaching booklets, a teaching video, and a 100 page master manual. The graduates are qualified to teach: Federal agency personnel, private groups, schools, clubs, and individuals. Taught by NOLS Master Instructors and possible government guest instructor.
When: October 10-13 (Friday - Monday, Columbus Day)
Where: WMO - Elizabeth, CO and National Forest
Cost: $650 total
Deposit $100
Scholarships: 5 - $75 Scholarships are available from WMO
Discounts: $50 discount for WMO graduates of any program
Qualifications: Students should have moderate experience backpacking. Bring sleeping bag, tent, cooking gear, stove, and personal gear. Camping gear can be provided if needed.
